The summer is finally here, and Lexie can't wait to start camp with her twin brother Colin. She thinks they are going to do Arts and Crafts, only to find out that both of her assumptions are wrong. Lexie's mom signed her up for tennis camp, and also informed her that Colin won't be attending. Jake, Colin's best friend and Lexie's crush, will also be at the tennis camp, but he will be in a more advanced class.
Before camp begins, Jake comes over and tells Colin and Lexie his dilemma. Bree, the most popular girl in school, has a crush on him, but he doesn't want to date her. Bree will also be at the camp, but she will be training to be a lifeguard. To make Jake unavailable to Bree, Colin has decided for Lexie to pretend to be Jake's girlfriend, so Bree will stop bothering Jake. This is what Lexie has been waiting for, only she wants to be his real girlfriend and not his pretend one. As the summer heats up, it's hard to tell fact from fiction and who is pretending anymore.
Like any summer read, there's not a whole lot to this book. It is very elementary, and is extremely predictable, but then again what teen book isn't. I enjoyed this book, but it's not one I would recommend to everyone. I think if it's at the library or you don't have to pay for it, it's worth it, but I don't think I would pay full price for it.
